Daniel Antero Rios, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on September 11, 2018 in El Paso, TX. Born January 3, 1929 in Lancaster, CA. Daniel was a brick mason by trade for 40 years and was a member of the Bricklayers Union. He took pride in his work as evident of his own home, others he helped build and numerous buildings across El Paso and surrounding areas that remain standing to this day. He enjoyed music, dancing, playing “huachas” with family, watching all sports especially his grandchildren’s sporting events. Preceded in death by parents Julio and Felicitas Rios and seven brothers. Daniel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maria Concepcion (Concha) Lechuga Rios. He had 7 children, Cecilia Santillan (Danny†), Rene Rios (Denise), Irma Rivera †, Angie Marquez (Arturo), Susan Samalot (Humberto), Connie Montenegro (Sergio) and Ron Rios (Monica). Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Maria Magdalena Rios Romo. He had 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Dr., El Paso TX 79915, with a Rosary at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Light, 4700 Delta Dr. El Paso, TX 79905. Interment to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
