Carlos was born in El Paso, Texas to Arturo and Graciela Montemayor. Carlos is survived by his parents Graciela and Juan Rodriguez-Oliva, sister and brother-in-law Martha and Edward Rapier, brother and sister-in-law Gerardo and Margaret Montemayor, and by his five beloved nephews Alexander and Adrian Rapier; Mattias, Daniel and Armando Montemayor; his uncle Juan Jimenez Ramirez and many other uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Arturo Montemayor.
Carlos graduated from Eastwood High School in El Paso where he was involved in athletics. Carlos then embarked on his career in the food service industry. His love for creating meals that brought joy to people, led him to Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Austin, where he became a Chef earning his Culinary Arts degree. Carlos developed his art at some of the top country clubs in the South – in San Antonio, Mississippi, St. Louis and returning to Austin. One of the highlights of his career was to serve as Private Chef in Augusta, Georgia at the PGA Masters Tournament for the Mitsubishi-Hitachi Group. Back in Austin, he pivoted to what would be his greatest challenge and most rewarding position, as the Executive Chef at Prep to Your Door, where he created new recipes in a field new to him – vegan food.
Anyone who met Carlos, knew he was passionate about family, friends and food. No one who ate with him or saw him cook could deny his passion.
All who shared life with Carlos were touched by his genuine and giving spirit. Carlos will live on in our loving memories.
