Our wonderful Mother Barbara Ann Farlow Tucker peacefully slipped away on July 30th, 2023. Mom was born February 9th, 1931 in El Paso, Texas to Harry and Letha Farlow. She was the baby of the family and adored by all of her big brothers. Even though our hearts are heavy we rejoice to know there was an amazing reunion with her parents, sibling, wonderful friends and her children Sallie and Russell who preceded her in death.
Mom always loved music and was in dance and choir. She had the most beautiful Alto voice. She even cut a record once. She loved the church choir and shared her musical abilities with her children and grandchildren, inspiring them to enjoy music and cultivate their talents as well.
She graduated from El Paso High in 1949. After high school, she married her sweetheart Kenneth Harris together they had 2 girls: Fonda and Sallie. Sallie passed away shortly after birth. This struggle would help her to be able to provide great comfort to others dealing with grief and loss. She was a comforting and encouraging presence for so many throughout her life.
In 1966 she met and married Donald Tucker, a widower. We will Forever be grateful that she married Dad. Mom instantly inherited 3 children. Not many women are brave enough to jump into that kind of commitment. Our family then felt complete with our sister Fonda. We know God had a plan and she was to be our Mother also. Our cookie jar was never empty and the smell of homemade bread was in the air. She turned our house back into a home.
A few years after Dad had passed Mom married a longtime family friend Charles Lawyer. They enjoyed some travels and lots of Large Family gatherings. After Chuck passed she really cherished the companionship of Loren Johnston. They traveled to South America, Hawaii, Canada, Australia and places in between. They had a few years of making unforgettable memories. They were sure to never miss a family graduation or celebration.
Mom absolutely loved when she became a Grandma. She made each one feel special. From special Saturday morning breakfasts to attending concerts she tried to make it to everything and was so proud of them all.
Mom loved animals. She consistently contributed to the ASPCA and local animal charities. She will be so happy to be reunited with many dear pets that have crossed the rainbow bridge, several sweet cats, dogs, a goat and even 2 cows.
Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was definitely a woman of Faith, and she lived her testimony everyday. She loved to serve others, having served as a President of the Relief Society (a few times), Young Women's organization, as well as Primary. She was an example of selfless love.
Mom never missed a birthday even in her last days, each birthday was important to her. She wanted those around her to feel seen, loved, accepted, and understood. It was this love that propelled her interest in family history as well. Family was everything to her.
Her greatest trait was undoubtedly her resilience. Through years as a widow and daunting medical challenges, life was tough but she was always tougher. May her love for others, deep resilience and her zest for life be an invitation to us all to love those around us and live life to the fullest.
She is survived by Daughter Fonda Kay Shannon of Round Rock Texas, Son, Donald Tucker (Betty), Arlene Tucker (Russells wife) and Valerie (Will) Sensiba. 17 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
