Norma Faye Sones

Norma Faye was born December 30, 1930 in Union County to William Jesse Lowery and Gladys E. Bridges Lowery, the oldest of eight children. She became a Christian at an early age. She tried to live a life pleasing to her Savior. Norma was a Christian role model for mothers, grandmothers, teachers and wives. She worked at Sterling Dept. Store, where she made life-time friends. She worked for El Dorado School District and retired from Medical Center of South Arkansas, as a director of the Beebe Child Care Center. Norma volunteered in church activities, including teaching Sunday school, and was head of the kitchen at Victory Bible Camp for many years. She was a wonderful cook for her entire family, “Boy could she cook”, and she took pride in the presentation of her dining room table. Norma Faye served 50 plus years in the Order of the Eastern Star of Arkansas Chapter 280. She served many stations, including Worthy Grand Matron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Delbert “Pete” Lowery, Coy Lowery and Danny Lowery; sisters-in-law, Tina Lowery, Elaine Lowery, June Lowery and Jean Lowery; brothers-in-law, Johnny Johnson, Charles Vines and Billy Harber.

Survivors include her husband, William “Bill” Sones, Jr,; two daughters, Diane Kendrick (Tom) and

La Donna Hayner; grandchildren, Jamie McCarty (Alicia), Janna Doss (Bruce), Caley Thomas (Ryan) and Garin Hayner (Lorrie); great grandchildren, Dakota, Moss, Elijah, Destany, Jayden and Lincoln; a great-great grandchild, Hadley; and siblings, Billy Lowery, Paula Vines, Barbara Harber, and LaVerne Johnson.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20 2022 at East Main Baptist Church with Dr. Benjy McCann and Rev. Ryan Huffty officiating. Burial will follow at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
