Linda Faye Brown, 74, died April 11, 2022, in Hot Springs AR. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James W (“Johnny”) Brown, her son, Clint E Brown, of Hot Springs, her sister, Vicki Flournoy, of El Dorado, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Linda was born in El Dorado on December 3, 1947 to Willie Squyres and Reba Burson Squyres. She graduated from Norphlet High School in 1965 and married her high school sweetheart, Johnny, in 1966. During their marriage, Johnny’s work took them to the Netherlands for a year, where Linda took advantage of the cultural opportunity by learning to speak Dutch and visiting many European destinations. Linda worked in a variety of jobs in the oil industry in Houston before she spent twenty-five years with International Paper Company in Memphis. While there, she renewed a high school talent and played clarinet with the Kirbywoods Baptist Church orchestra, and she put her organizational skills to use producing a welcome booklet for new Sunday School class members. After her retirement, Linda and Johnny returned to Norphlet, where she was a member of First Baptist Church Norphlet and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed reading, working in her yard, and visiting with friends and family- and if she brought along her famous chocolate pie or brownies, they were even happier to see her! Linda had a kind word for all, a gentle spirit, a quick, quiet wit, and loved her Lord with all her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Reba Squyres, and her beloved brother-in-law Jimmy Flournoy and nephew, Kirk Hudson.
Private family burial by Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
