Born June 25, 1940 in Shreveport, LA he was the son of Eddie and Elizabeth Ogilvie Waschka. He graduated from Fair Park High School then Centenary College of Shreveport LA. For over 50 years, Lawrence was the owner of HEPCO, a wholesale beer distributor, in El Dorado, AR.
Preceding him in death along with his parents were his wife, Julia Wood Waschka, daughter, LeeAnn Patterson Herndon and son, Larry Waschka.
Survivors include his sons Paul Waschka (Robin Jeter) of El Dorado and Robert Patterson (Susan) of Centreville, VA along with four grandchildren, Lacy, Caroline, Annabelle and Lily.
His hobbies included model trains, hunting, fishing, boating and working land with his tractor. Lawrence cherished his time at his camp on the Ouachita River where he kept his boat and built a cabin for his family and friends to gather for everlasting memories. He loved sports and always followed the Razorback teams regardless of their performance. His church family will remember him as a humble, gracious leader whose kindness and dedication left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Always willing to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return, he embodied the true spirit of service.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Young’s Chapel, 508 Champagnolle Rd, El Dorado, AR. A reception from 3:00 to 6:00 pm for all family and friends will be held at South Arkansas Arts Center, 110 E. 5th Street following the service.
