Joseph Perry Whatley, 76, of El Dorado passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Courtyard Health and Rehabilitation. He was born on June 5, 1948 to Eldridge and Edith Little Whatley in El Dorado, AR.
He was retired from Great Lakes Chemical where he worked for over 20 years in maintenance and was a member of West Side Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors where he loved to deer and turkey hunt almost as much as he enjoyed skeet shooting and reloading. He was a proud supporter of the El Dorado High School shooting team. He was also a founding member as well as served as president of the Malloy Sportsman Club.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and brothers, Larry Whatley and David Whatley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cathy Whatley of El Dorado; daughter, Sandra Gage (James) of Hot Springs; sisters, Barbara Dotson (Robert) of Dadeville, AL, Brenda Barton of El Dorado; grandchildren, Kelsey Watson (Terry Lee) of Camden, Allison Dean of Camden, and Kalynne Gage of Hot Springs; great grandchildren, Caiden and Axl of Camden.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in Young's Chapel with Rev. Cody Lain officiating.
