Dr. David Ben Fraser, 90 of El Dorado, passed away, Friday, August 11, 2017, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado. He was born October 20, 1926, to Malcolm Joseph Fraser and Edith Faber Fraser.
Dr. Fraser graduated from high school at age 16. He attended the University of Texas for two years before being drafted. He served two years as a Navy Medic in 1945 and 1946. He graduated in 1952 from the University of Texas Medical School and was certified in 1972 in psychiatry and neurology. He interned in Corpus Christi, Texas and served in General Practice for ten years before moving to North Little Rock in 1965 where he began his residency in psychiatry and neurology at the VA Hospital. In 1979 he moved to El Dorado where he worked for the South Arkansas Regional Health Center covering Magnolia, Camden, and El Dorado until he retired as Medical Director at the age of 80.
Upon his retirement at age 80, the Board Room there was named after him for his years of dedicated service. He was recognized by the American Medical Association for 50 years of service.
Dr. Fraser enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Fraser of Calion; sons, Randy Fraser of Conway, AR and David Fraser (Sarah) of Beebe, AR; daughtersLynn Whitaker (Larry) of North Little Rock, AR, and Vicki Ann Fraser (Vickey Wingerter) of Conway, AR, stepdaughter, Cindy Davis of Calion, AR and stepsons, Gary Robert Ward (Linda) of Junction City, AR and Randy Ward (Pattye) of Oklahoma City, OK.
He was also survived by thirteen grand-children and twenty four great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Jo Ann Reeves for her love and care for Dr. Fraser.
Honoring him by serving as Pallbearers are; Randy Fraser , David Fraser Jr. , Larry Whitaker, Joey Whitaker, Gary Ward and Devin Davis.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Norphlet.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at First Baptist in Norphlet. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Memorials may be made to the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
