He was born September 12, 1935 to Clyde C. Murphree and Florence Allison Murphree. He worked for the El Dorado Fire Department from 1958 – 1985 and retired as Deputy Fire Chief. Dennis was a deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, he enjoyed his Sunday school class and singing in the choir. Along with camping at Felsenthal, he was also a Razorback and NASCAR fan. Most of all, he loved his family and dog Georgia and cat Little Bit.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James and Virginius; sisters Wanda and Joann.
Survivors include his wife of 65 1/2 years Pat Ward Murphree of El Dorado; sons Shelby Murphree of El Dorado and Dennis D. Murphree, Jr., (Debra) of Franklin, New Hampshire; brothers Jeff Murphree (Brenda) of El Dorado and Tom Murphree (Pat) of Morrilton, AR; sisters Catherine Taylor (Gerald) of Magnet Cove, AR and Lavon Wood of El Dorado; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 26th, 2019 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Robertson officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Burns Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Honorary pallbearers are the Men's Ready Sunday School Class. Serving as pallbearers are Jeffrey McGriff, Blake Murphree, Justin Murphree, Richard Aaron, Otis McCroskey, Beryl Jacobs, Joe Willett and Gary Hill.
