Betty Ruth Smith

Betty Ruth Ruddell Smith, age 76 of El Dorado; went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 3, 2013. She was born in Longview, Texas on June 5, 1936 and grew up in El Dorado, graduating from El Dorado High School in 1954. She attended Meadows Draughn’s School of Business in Shreveport, Louisiana and Green’s Business School in El Dorado, and also, Majestic School of Cosmetology in Shreveport.

She was of the Nazarene faith and a charter member of the former Central Church of The Nazarene, El Dorado. She loved God, her family, country music, gardening, writing, and making friends with pen pals throughout the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marion Smith; parents, Bennie Joe Ruddell and Una Elsie Bishop Ruddell; and a sister, Patsy Ruddell.

Survivors are a son, William Gary Smith, his wife Marilyn and daughter Elizabeth of Franklin, TN; a daughter, Becky Elise Alvarez, her husband Mark and daughters Rachel and Sarah of Shreveport, LA; and her brother Bennie Don Ruddell, and his wife Kay of El Dorado.

Graveside service and burial will be10:00 AM, Friday, June 7, at Arlington Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Sparks and Kay Ruddell officiating under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Visitation will be at Young’s Funeral Directors between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM on Thursday June 6.

Serving as pallbearers are Mark Alvarez, Stephen Ruddell, David Bubbus, Wayne Patterson, David Franks, and Tommy Franks. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Bennie Don Ruddell.
