Rudolph Franklin Morrin, affectionately known as Frank, was born on August 25, 1947, in Chula Vista, California, to Donald F. Morrin and Mary F. Thompson. He departed this life to be with the Lord on December 25, 2024.
A proud alumnus of Glendale High School, Frank earned a football scholarship, but his career was cut short due to an injury. Upon recovery, he demonstrated his dedication to service by joining the United States Marine Corps, where he was assigned to the Marine detachment aboard the USS Enterprise(CVAN-65).
Frank’s greatest love was his wife, Gerie, whom he married on December 31, 1982. Their union spanned 42 wonderful years.
After his military service, Frank channeled his carpentry skills into establishing R/G Construction, a company he owned and operated with pride. His craftsmanship and leadership in the construction industry were well-regarded until his retirement in 2017.
Faith and family were the foundation of Frank’s life. He cherished sharing his talents and wisdom with his children and grandchildren. Frank took particular pride in mentoring his sons, Daniel and Donald, both of whom contributed to the family business. Daniel later went on to establish his own successful construction company. Through Frank’s guidance, he instilled in all his children the values of hard work, integrity, faith, and perseverance—principles they continue to uphold in their own lives.
An accomplished fisherman, Frank’s skills earned him multiple awards during his time as a Bass Pro Fisherman. Over the course of his career, he won 13 boats. His culinary talents were equally celebrated by his family who cherished his famous “eggie pancakes”—a tradition that will be deeply missed.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Gerie, and their cat, Archie; his sons Daniel (Kendra) and Donald (Jaime); his daughters Geri (Derrick) and Gayle (Mark); as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandsons.
His legacy of love, service, and family traditions will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A service in his honor will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 2:15 PM, followed by a reception at Lakeside Community Presbyterian Church.
