Donald Eugene Bloom was born April 29,1942 in Galva, Illinois. He was the middle child born to Frank “Bud” and Bernice Bloom. He moved to San Diego in 1968.
Don was married to Katie Williams Bloom and had two children Cindy L. Martinez of Santee and Doug Bloom of Sacramento. In addition, he had two stepchildren, Ramsey Williams of San Francisco and Whitney Ginter of San Diego. Don had eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Don also had two sisters Mary Ann Spiegel of Galva, Illinois, and Linda Burnett of Harker Heights, Texas.
Don was a contractor in San Diego for over fifty years and was well known in the County as President of WestStar Contractors. He had a tremendous gift for renovation and most of his work came from word of mouth. He had also established three successful businesses in the past including Bardon Enterprises. Don loved working and worked to the very end.
When not working Don enjoyed being with his family, music, being at the Ranch in Potrero, Ca., going to Padres games, concerts, travelling and great Mexican food or a good steak!
Don was a fine man always looking out for his family. He was kind and generous, never angry, always looking for the best in people. He will be greatly missed.
