Today, we gather to celebrate and honor the life of Brent Lewis Luker—father, husband, brother, Marine, and friend. Brent lived a full and remarkable life, one that was defined by his humor, creativity, and deep dedication to his family, his country, and his work.
Born on December 16, 1935, Brent was the oldest of four siblings. As the firstborn, he took on the responsibility of leading by example, demonstrating strength, integrity, and a loving heart that would become his legacy. At an early age of 14, he helped to support his single mom and family, even providing Christmas gifts for all of them. We were told on many occasions that he provided the best Christmas ever by his siblings. He lived 88 years, passing away on December 9, 2024, and in those years, he touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and commitment.
Brent was a proud Marine, serving his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. His service was a reflection of his deep love for his country and his unwavering dedication to protecting the freedoms we hold dear. Brent was someone who stood tall in the face of adversity, just as he did when he served. He carried the values of discipline, respect, and loyalty with him throughout his life, and those who knew him could see how his military service shaped his character.
For 42 years, Brent worked in the aerospace industry and finished as a Producibility Engineer with Rohr Industries, where his creativity and problem-solving skills shone. He was known for thinking outside the box, finding innovative solutions to complex challenges, and earning the respect of his colleagues. It wasn’t just his intellect that people appreciated—it was also his humor. Brent had a unique gift of making even the toughest days lighter with a well-timed joke or witty remark. His laughter and lighthearted spirit were a constant source of joy to all who worked with him.
At the same time, Brent was a self-taught TV repairman, demonstrating his natural curiosity and hands-on ability to solve problems. Whether it was fixing an old television set or taking on a new project, Brent’s resourcefulness knew no bounds. His willingness to learn and tackle any challenge head-on was an inspiration to everyone around him.
Above all, Brent’s greatest pride was his family. He and his beloved wife, Elaine, were married for an extraordinary 68 years. Their relationship was a true partnership, built on love, trust, and mutual respect. Together, they created a life full of beautiful memories. Brent was a devoted father to his five children: Brent Jr., Dale, Roxanna, Vickie, and Krista. His love for them was immeasurable and they were the center of his world.
Brent’s family continued to grow and flourish over the years, with 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through them, as he instilled in each of them the values of hard work, humor, love, and the importance of family. Brent was not just a father and grandfather; he was a role model, a source of wisdom, and a foundation of support for his growing family.
Brent was funny, creative, and above all, he was a kind soul. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel at ease, and his humor was a gift that made the world a little brighter. Whether he was telling stories, sharing a laugh, or simply spending time with his loved ones, Brent’s presence was one of joy.
Today, as we remember Brent, we honor not just his accomplishments, but the man he was. A proud Marine, a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a self-taught repairman, and a friend who could always make us smile. Brent’s legacy of love, humor, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Brent / Dad / Grandpa. You were deeply loved, and you will be remembered always.
