She was born on July 23, 1944 in Mombasa, Kenya to Jethalal and Saraswati Dave; the 7th of 8 children. She grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and values of service, duty, and compassion.
She was a devoted wife to Mukundbhai for 60 years and an inspirational mother to her daughters, Mina and Sheetal. Mother-in-law to Stewart and grandmother to Kieran, Sáraswathi, and Jessica.
Mrudula had a rare combination of love for life without attachment to it. She had a knack for dressing well, cooking the most incredible food, and presenting it beautifully.
Yet she was always able to see beyond the superficial. Mature and childlike at the same time, her kindness and sensitivity for the needs of others often stretched her beyond her physical capacity. Her discretion and loyalty were second to none. She was the first to forgive and to consider things from other people‘s perspectives.
Mrudula spent many years being a trusted leader in the accounts payable division for the government of Alberta. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to community services and the well-being and preservation of Gujarati traditions and the stewardship of the Alberta Gujarati Cultural Association of Alberta .
She traveled extensively and loved to learn and read. In many regards, she was well ahead of her times. She especially believed in women’s power and independence, inspiring and mentoring many women to live their best lives without the constraints of societal expectations.
The last book she read was, the Bhagwat Katha, a collection of spiritual stories and teachings regarding the attainment of liberation from the cycle of life and death. She was well prepared for her journey to God.
Mrudula now dwells with the sun, the moon, and the stars. We will miss her forever.
