Kathleen Faye Parker

January 13, 1936 – August 22, 2021

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to a beloved wife and mother, Kathy Parker, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on August 22, 2021, at the age of 85 years, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was born and raised in Provost, AB and later moved to Edmonton where she attended Alberta College and worked as a secretary in the oil and gas industry. There she met Thomas (Tom) Parker and they were married June 18, 1960. After living briefly in Winnipeg, MB they settled in Edmonton and welcomed daughter Susan. The family moved to Toronto, ON for five years but then returned to Edmonton where Tom and Kathy enjoyed life, camping, their many trips to Maui and multiple cruises as they travelled the world in their retirement years.

Kathy will be remembered for the care and compassion she had for all those she came into contact with. She lived life with such grace, dignity and optimism – qualities that she continued to exhibit all through her illness.

Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Tom; daughter Susan (Duane); brothers Garry (Michelle) and LeRoy (Bev) as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Olaf and Verna Spilde.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Mel Miller Hospice Unit of the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre for the kindness, compassion and care they showed Kathy in her last weeks.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathy’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Foundation.
