Karen was born on December 27, 1953, in Winnipeg, MB.
Karen spent most of her youth in the Northwest Territories (and Nunavut) where she had many friends and family. Karen was proud of her northern upbringing and in her younger years loved to travel with a particular fondness for Maui where she spent close to a year working and living her best life.
Eventually, Karen made her way to Edmonton where she is lovingly survived by her sons Jesse Wynia (Sarah) and Jaydyn Wynia. Karen is also survived by her mother Shirley of Edmonton, her brother John (Emily) of Beaumont, her sister Wendy (Gord) of Kamloops, and her nephew Kristopher and nieces Brenda and Pamela. Karen is predeceased by her father Hugh, her brother Rick, and her nephew Bruce.
Our family is grateful to all the staff at the Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre who went above and beyond to provide Karen with the comforts she needed in her final days.
Contributions in memory of Karen can be made to the The Good Samaritan Society, Edmonton.
