John was one of those guys you never forget,he was always full of life especially when he was singing..
He will be missed by alot of people.

I too had the honour to work with John in several schools.  He was always ready with a smile, a handshake or a hug.  Getting to know John was one of the true blessings in my life.  He had a way of making everyday a great day and will be greatly missed by so many.

To all the wonderful people in John's life. I was lucky enough to meet john over 25 years ago at the fishing hole where he gave me some tips on the lake we were going to. Then I got to work along side John with the Edmonton Catholic schools. I will certainly miss his great belly laugh. I will cherish all the things that John taught me for along time to come.

This notification came today and I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I apologize for not being able to let you know (until now), that John did indeed touch more lives than you may ever realize! I too remember him giving me words of welcome, encouragement and support more than once over the years (at various schools I used to sub and teach at - because I did work at many in my 20 years so far!) I also have been/am part of ECSD music family... So I must have heard his singing as well (even if it was in a school hallway!) his kind and friendly heart is what I remember most about him... and though we all wish he did not have to leave us so soon... We can seek comfort in knowing he is free from suffering and has earned his heavenly reward already!!! May the prayers and love of those who are reaching out to you... Bring you strength and healing in the days ahead. God's blessings always...

I was touched to see the messages left for my Uncle John's family.  Allow me to add my own.
I was quite surprised when in my first year teaching at St. Angela the custodial staff came up to me and asked me if I was related to a Landry who works for ECSD.  I get this question a fair bit so I was prepared to say no, when they specified 'John Landry'.  Unaccustomed to saying yes and being a bit thrown off, they proceeded to tell me how they enjoyed working with John and that the next time he comes by for a visit they will tell him to stop by and say hello to me.
As the life of a first year teacher continues I didn’t think twice about the conversation until one day after a particularly difficult day who happens to be outside my door but Uncle John.  We talked not only about our family but as a custodian talks to a stressed out teacher.  It was the kind of talk that was gentle, reassuring and giving me a little more energy to carry out the week.  It would not surprise me to find out that he did this many times throughout his career with Edmonton Catholic Schools for other teachers.  I am grateful for the chance to see him in this different light.  Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

Permit me to offer condolences on behalf of my father, Roland Ulliac and myself who both had an opportunity to work with John.  Dad was custodial supervisor with Edmonton Catholic Schools during the early years John joined the school district.  Both John and dad were small town guys growing up and had a lot in common.  Dad had nothing but good things to say about John.  My dad died June 9th with the hope that John could have sung at his funeral.  Obviously, with John's own struggle with cancer, that was not possible, however, they can now once again enjoy each other's company in their new heavenly home.  I was fortunate to work with John for a short time at Our Lady of the Prairies School where John was our head custodian.  He was always great to talk to with a ready handshake and smile, and did I mention mesmerizing to listen to him sing?  I will be ever so grateful for the time I had in getting to know John.

The fight has been fought and his eternal reward has been won through a faith that was evident in every aspect of his life.

Dear Alma, Raina and family, we were so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved husband and father.  We know how much he meant to you.  I have thought about you a lot lately Raina.  You were both such great influences on our lives and I know John must have been a wonderful person.

Dear Alma and family.
I would like to express my sincere condolences on the recent passing of John. My dad, Jonathan and Jean-Christophe also send their thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this difficult time.
Although I didn't know John before our arrival in the neighbourhood, in the past 7 years that I came to know John, I came to realize his great kindness and compassion towards his friends and family. And I do know that he was very highly respected throughout this community.  You were truly fortunate to have a man such as John in your life.
I know how close you Alma were from John and I can only imagine what you must be going through right now.
John was one of the kindest, wisest, most thoughtful person I’ve ever known. I'll never forget him.  He was more than just a neighbour.  He was a friend, almost a father to me.  Always the right word to say, the funniest joke, the best story.  Through John’s story, I learned some valuable lesson and will carry those lessons with me forever.
Even though you and I are thousands of miles apart right now, please know that I'm praying for you. I know that you have the strength in you to move on and I want to remind you that I'm here for you

Dear Alma,and family;
Words do not come easily to adequetly express the sadness I feel losing "our John".  I do know what you are experiencing.  It is heartbreaking. I have over forty years of memories that I cherish and will keep with me forever. John was almost as lost as I was when George died.  I choose to believe that maybe now they are once again together having coffee in their "little red office"  You are always in my heart and my prayers.

It is with sadness that I recieved the news of John's passing. Death in human experience has never been easy, whether it comes in youth or in old age, whether it comes suddenly or in long illness, it always leaves in its wake sorrow, tears, lonliness and longing. But our Lord , who has conquered death by his own death, proved to us that beyond Calvary, there is the empty tomb and all of us, if we live the way John lived, will be with Christ in His heavenly kingdom. 
I have a great deal of love for John as a friend and will miss him.

Dear Alma and family,
I was so sad to hear of John's passing. I was immediately reminded of so many summers that we shared as lake neighbours. I can still see John's smiling face coming down the beach! 
 Of course, all of our family events were not events without John and Bob making it extra special. He was a very gifted man. I hope his memories can give you some comfort in these difficult days.
