I was so saddened to hear about the loss of Janis. As a graduate of the MD PhD program at the University of Alberta, Janis was a constant positive and warm presence. She was always looking out for students and trying to find ways to help where she could. Going to see her in the office would always brighten up my day. She will be greatly missed. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

It was even my pleasure to watch the Peter & Janis relationship grow and develop in all of our early years with the Faculty of Nursing at the U of A. I was so saddened to hear of Janis' passing. She was such a wonderful colleague and such a warm and giving person! She was my administrative rock when I chaired the MD Research program in the early 2000s, but we really bonded over all the trials and tribulations of motherhood. My deepest condolences to you, Peter, and your girls - you were the center of her universe! I am thinking of you and wishing you much strength in the weeks and months ahead as you travel this challenging road. Wishing you peace.

I am so sorry to learn of Janis’ passing. My deepest sympathy to Peter, her daughters, family and all her friends. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Janis for several years while at the Faculty of Nursing. She was a beautiful soul who captured everyone with her engaging smile. Her level of respect, collaboration and work ethic was appreciated and recognized. The world is a better place because of her presence even if it was too short. I will always remember Janis. I had known Janis since the early nineties when she worked in the grad and research offices - we used to have many small conversations that were meaningful to me. I am so sorry for your loss but I suspect Janis has joined the great collective consciousness and with any luck will be bumping into Chris NC on her journey! My deepest condolences to Janis' family.  Janis was always so professional, so helpful and always smiling. I so enjoyed working with her, as even interpreting statistics and tables from the research office was fun to do with Janis! Janis was so warm and kind, and always took so much time with me. She had a gift of turning colleagues into friends.   She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

I remember Janis fondly for the years of support she gave for all of our grant applications that we submitted for our research. I was always grateful to see her at the desk accepting my completed applications for the Dean's signature. She was incredibly kind and patient with us as junior researchers. She will be greatly missed.

Our deepest condolences to the family of Janis Davis.  We met under a very problematic circumstance, where her caring and mediation abilities were clearly evident.  She became a great and wonderful friend.  We both relied on our daily texts for updates, comments and strength in life for the last few years.  We  will all miss her so dearly.
