Herbert Douglas Wilcox

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Herb Wilcox on November 4, 2023, at the age of 72. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his immediate family, and we would like to thank the staff at the Misericordia Hospital for their care and kindness.

Herb will be lovingly remembered by Shirley, his wife and soulmate of 41.5 years; his mother Dorothy; children Colin and Lisa (Alex); brother Marty (Kim); granddaughters Natalie and Bridget; siblings in law Pat, Greg, Corinne and Geoff; as well as extended family, friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his father Chuck.

Herb had many passions, including motorcycles, goaltending and watching hockey. Herb was an active member of the local military veterans' group. His chief passion, however, was his family, and we were blessed by his attention and the amount of time we got to spend with him.

Herb leaves a legacy behind that speaks to his caring nature and overwhelmingly positive influence he left on all who knew him. He will be remembered for his humour, friendliness, the many stories he told (and retold), his unconditional generosity and his willingness to help others.

A celebration of Herb's life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2-5 PM at Cattail Crossing Golf Club, 24427 Township Road 542, Edmonton AB T8T 1L4.
