It is with great love, respect and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our Dad at 97 years. Gunnar’s lifelong priority and enjoyment was his family and friends. He is fondly remembered for his wit, strength of character, love and support.
Gunnar was born in Denmark and came to Canada with his parents Jesse and Nathalie who settled on a farm in Ponoka. They moved to Edmonton where he met and married Selma in 1944. He was a proud, quiet and humble man who lived a life filled with hard work and kind actions. Dad had an active mind, lived independently in his home and kept his driver’s license till the end.
Predeceased by wife Selma (2007), daughter Dianne, and brother Jens. He will be sadly missed by daughter Louise, son Dennis (Linda), grandchildren Rod (Shannon), Christine (Jason), 5 great grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Hazel and Deanna along with many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church at 10815 -76 Ave. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
