David Evans passed away with his family at his side at the age of 94 at the Saint Thomas Health Centre in Edmonton, Alberta on February 14, 2021. He is predeceased by his wife Anne; brothers Dick and Jack; grandson Darcy and great grandson Cole. He is survived by his sisters Mair and Nell; his four children Jim (Jenny), Don (Annette), Tom (Debbie) and Carol (Jim); seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He retired from the Royal Trust Company in 1982 as Manager of Personal Trust after 37 years of service. He had a passion for family and sports. He participated in many sports including baseball, curling, hockey (playing into his 70s) and golf (playing into his mid 80s). He rarely missed a game being played by one of his grandchildren.
He donated hundreds of volunteer hours to many organizations including Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball, Assumption Parish and Hardisty Nursing Home. His life touched so many people in a very positive way. He will be missed by many and remembered as a kind and generous person who would always help where he could. He had an amazing memory which enabled him to be quite the storyteller in his later years.
Dave’s last years were spent at the Saint Thomas Health Centre where he experienced excellent care and enjoyed his life. Thank you to all the caring staff.
There will be no funeral at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks that you donate to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choosing.
