Danielle “Cookie” Nichols was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 17, 1958 to Stuart and Claudette McGee. She was their fourth child out of eight. She spent a majority of her years in Sherwood Park, Alberta where she challenged herself through her career as a Systems Analyst for the Government of Alberta. She was a Mother who always put her children first and a Grandma full of unconditional love.
She welcomed her first children, a set of twins: her daughters Kerry and Kimberly in 1977, followed by her son Eric, another set of twins: her daughter Sarah and son Nathan, her Son Adam, and the last piece to her family puzzle, her Son Spencer in 1993. Danielle was a devoted Mom, Grandma, Sister, Daughter, Aunty, and Friend. She was a strong, determined woman who accomplished so much in her short time with us. First and foremost, as a single parent she raised 7 healthy and accomplished children, all with their own individual talents and strengths. She designed her dream home and brought it to fruition where she spent many years raising her family. She completed her first half marathon experiencing the beauty within our Canadian Rockies through the Melissa’s Park Road Race event. She put herself through school to access career opportunities in the technology field. She started at a help-desk position with Telus and ended up becoming a Systems Analyst for the Premier’s Office and the Government of Alberta. She loved her career and enjoyed the responsibility of providing technical support directly for the Premier at the time. Along with her accomplishments, Danielle was a woman of many passions including: camping, breeder-owner-handler at dog shows, gardening, running, sewing, and cross-stitching.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Kerry (Ben) Ruddick, Kimberly (Rodrigo) Quezada, Eric (Krystal) Armitage, Nathan (Cheryll) Nichols, Sarah (Shawn) Jones, Adam Nichols and Spencer Nichols. And her love will continue on forever for and through her grandchildren: Nolan, Kaylie, Paityn, Jett, John, James, Ireland, and Mateo. Danielle is also survived by her mother, Claudette McGee; 4 brothers and 1 sister: Bruce McGee, Mark McGee, Kevin McGee, Colin McGee and Susan McGee, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Danielle is predeceased by her father Stuart McGee, her brother Darren McGee, and her sister Barbara Bateman.
