Twyla was born February 4, 1933 in Purcell, OK to Herbert L and Bessie M (Buchanan) Hunt and entered into eternal rest peacefully on December 8, 2024 in Guthrie, Ok. While growing up, Twyla and her family moved to new towns each year as her dad worked to complete the Turner Turnpike in Oklahoma. She graduated from Edmond High School in 1952. She continued her education at Hills Business School in Oklahoma City, OK. Where she excelled in typing and shorthand.
While attending a fair with friends in Bristow, OK, she met Wayne Smith. They would marry on May 23, 1953 and enjoy a loving 49 year marriage until his passing in 2002. From this union, two beautiful daughters would complete their family; Deborah Darlene was welcomed February 21, 1956 and Rebecca Renee on November 23, 1960.
Using her secretary skills, Twyla worked for Kerr McGee and Citizens Bank in Oklahoma City.
As a driven entrepreneur, Twyla found decades of success in sales. It began in makeup with Fashion Two Twenty, MarJo, and Lady Finelle cosmetics. In the early 1980’s Twyla used that sales expertise to begin selling real estate. Over the years she worked for Walter’s Real Estate, Keller Williams, Churchill Brown and Metro First. She found recognition as top producer multiple times everywhere she worked.
She loved her family and she treated all who she met as if they were.
Twyla is proceeded in death by her parents, her adoring husband of 49 years, her daughter Rebecca and many cherished family & friends.
Those left to hold dear her memory include; her brother Gary Hunt and wife Quyen of Frisco, TX. Daughter Deborah and husband Don of Edmond, OK. Granddaughter Rachel, husband Jeff and their children Reagan, Kinsley and Brock of Edmond, OK. Grandson Matthew, wife Mindy and their sons Peyton and Brody of Newalla, OK. Nephew Christopher, wife Nicte and their son Abram of Dallas, TX.
A visitation for Twyla will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
