Dr. Suresh Chandrasekaran

Dr. Suresh Chandrasekaran, a beloved husband, father, and highly esteemed cardiologist, passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2024, leaving an enduring legacy of compassion, dedication, and excellence.

Born on April 25, 1967, in India, to Dr. T.S. Chandrasekaran and Indrani Chandrasekaran, Suresh was one of two children. His mother preceded him in death, but her influence and warmth remained central to his life. He is survived by his wife, Gemma, children Vinay and Divya, father Dr. T.S Chandrasekaran and his sister, Nirupama Chandrasekaran.

A brilliant student from an early age, Dr. Chandrasekaran attended Vikaasa School in Madurai before earning his medical degree from Madurai Medical College at Madurai Kamaraj University in June 1989. He pursued advanced training in the United States, completing his Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt in New York and a prestigious Cardiology Fellowship at Columbia University.

Suresh’s passion for healing and tireless dedication to his patients defined his career. He was a board-certified expert in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. From 1997 to 2002, he served as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he inspired students and colleagues alike with his depth of knowledge and unwavering commitment to the field.

As a practicing cardiologist in Oklahoma, Dr. Chandrasekaran earned the deep respect and gratitude of his patients for his progressive care and personal attention. He was known for going above and beyond, often calling patients to check on them after they had returned home, ensuring their comfort and recovery. Many lives were saved because of his expertise, diligence, and kindness. He was also deeply appreciative of his devoted staff and nurses, whose dedication and teamwork made his practice a place of exceptional care and compassion.

Outside of medicine, Suresh was a devoted husband to his wife of 27 years, Gemma Candido, whom he married on June 8, 1997. Together, they raised two extraordinary children, Vinay Dominic Chandrasekaran and Divya Keli Chandrasekaran, who were the center of his world. A great father, he took pride in instilling in his children an appreciation for their Indian heritage, teaching them its rich traditions, values, and culture while balancing it beautifully with their American upbringing. Despite his demanding career, he always prioritized family, creating precious memories as they traveled the world together.

Dr. Chandrasekaran’s loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his example of kindness, humility, and excellence will live on.

A visitation for Suresh will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034.

Mass of Christian Burial will occur Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8005 Dorset Dr, Nichols Hills, OK 73120.
