Stanley was raised in various towns in southern Oklahoma before moving to Wellston, Oklahoma. He graduated high school from Wellston and later joined the U.S. Army. Stanley bravely served during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. After returning from the Army, he lived in Kansas City, Kansas until 1966 when the family moved to Luther, Oklahoma. He stayed in Luther before retiring to Lake Eufaula in 1997. Stanley made his last move to Edmond, Oklahoma in 2020.
He was a man that did not waste any part of his day. Stanley would get up early and start working in the garden and would end his evening with his family, and fishing when he could. Stanley enjoyed being in nature whether it was gardening, hunting, or fishing he was always working hard outside. When he was not working he liked listening to country music, swing dancing, being with his family and telling jokes and stories. Family was a big thing to Stanley and he enjoyed all the memories with his children and family. He was a great father, grandfather, and friend to many and was always there for anyone in need. Stanley will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his past wife Betty Jean; his parents Arthur and Odie Lake; his brothers Arthur Lake, Jr. and wife Cora, Eldon Lake and wife Betty; his sisters Virginia Linn and husband Bill, Betty Jo Toney and husband Bill; brother-in-law Andy Odell, and former spouses, Florence and Arlene.
Stanley is survived by his daughter Linda Carole Page and husband Ed; his sons Ronald Dean Lake and wife Jeanette, Kenneth Alan Lake and wife Connie, and Daniel Christopher Lake and wife Eileen; step-daughters, Kathy Paine and husband Floyd, Kelly Ashby and Trish Covel and husband Toby; 17 grandchildren; 20 plus great-grandchildren; brother Richard Lake and wife Mary Ellen; sisters Delores Helberg and husband Dean and Doris Odell; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Come-and-go visitation for Stanley will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034 on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral service will occur Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow to Wellston Cemetery, SW Corner of S 3220 Rd and E 903 RD, Wellston, OK 74881.
