Dick was born April 2, 1935 to Axel William and Signe Sternlof. He grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was a Boy Scout active in his community, traveled to Europe, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Gordon College where he met his beloved wife Beverly, later marrying in 1959. He continued his education at Boston University where he received his master's in Clinical Psychology.
After graduation, he moved to Oklahoma to complete a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his Ph.D. in 1964 and was a licensed psychologist from 1966 until retirement a few years ago. In his career, he helped establish the licensing act for psychologists, founded a school for children with learning disabilities and special needs, worked therapeutically with hundreds of families, and was highly regarded performing forensic and child custody evaluations.
Dick had property in Macomb, Oklahoma and enjoyed spending time at his “ranch” reading, fishing, and birding. He loved Native American artwork and cowboy artifacts, obtaining quite a collection over the years.
More than anything, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife Beverly; sons Steven and David with daughter in-law Wendy; grandchildren: Ryan with wife Kyla, Rachel with husband Dallas, Ashley, and Samantha with husband Hector; great-grandchildren Asher, and Wendy’s grandchildren Aria and Amelia.
