Rex Scott Tomlinson

Rex Tomlinson, a.k.a. “Mr. T”, a.k.a. “Wrecks”, a beloved husband, son, father and brother, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015. A life so well lived that no matter the “title” we gave him, he exceeded it. Rex has been an inspiration to so many and in countless ways.

Rex was born on August 29, 1948. He lived his life as an Okie through and through. Growing up in Broken Bow, and then moving to the “big city” of Edmond to attend college at Central State University. Rex spent his career as a high school teacher at Broken Bow High School and Edmond Memorial High School inspiring students through art and, for the last 3 decades of his 35-year career, through clay.

His family, friends and former students cherish Rex. He always carried a smile, a joke, and a great story. Rex’s positive energy and love for others filled every space and person he came into contact with.

Rex is survived by his loving wife, Mikki; beautiful daughters: Krystal Vera of Bartonville, TX, Heather Outlaw of Wylie, TX, and Alexandra Cox of Oklahoma City; his adored grandchildren: Bryson, Kambryn, and Karys Vera and Riley and Emerson Outlaw; his loving siblings, Kay McKenzie of Edmond, OK, and Craig Tomlinson of Garvin, OK; his wonderful stepmother, Billie Tomlinson of Broken Bow, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rex’s life will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Waterloo Road Baptist Church in Edmond, OK, followed by a reception at The Wrecksarosa.
