In loving memory of Renee Kathleen McAlpin, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on October 17, 2024. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Renee was born on August 21, 1947, to loving parents George and Bernice McClary in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
Renee spent most of her early years in North Dakota. She was raised in Bismarck but spent many wonderful summers at her grandparent’s farm in Brochet, North Dakota. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1965 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education upon her graduation in 1969. Renee loved teaching and worked hard to put her education to use while she taught pre-school and grade school at Air Force Base Schools.
Renee met Brian McAlpin, the love of her life, when they were juniors at Bismark High School. They were married on December 28, 1968, beginning their married life on that -30 degrees Grand Forks, North Dakota evening. Over their 55 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children prompting Renee to leave full time teaching to devote her time to her family as a homemaker.
Renee had many hobbies including reading and traveling. She even made it to all 50 states and the West Canadian Provinces. She also enjoyed spending time with her uncles, aunts, and cousins on her grandparents’ North Dakotan farm where she had made so many fond memories as a child.
Renee is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Gunder and Borghild Skjerseth and Charles and Martha McClary, and her son Paul McAlpin.
She will be fondly remembered by the family and friends she is survived by including her husband Brian, her daughters Michelle McAlpin and Sarah Lasiter and son in-law Nathan, her son Stephen McAlpin and husband Jordan Rolo, her brothers James, Richard, Thomas, Scott, and her sister Janice Serumgard, her grandchildren Paul, Alex, Nicolas, and Aidan Lasiter, and her many friends.
While she surely misses us, let us all remember Renee’s faith and love for Jesus Christ and the joy she experienced on October 17th as He welcomed her to His Heavenly Kingdom and reunited her with Paul, her parents, her grandparents, and many many friends and loved ones who have gone before her. So, while she’ll be truly missed by us, we draw comfort knowing she’s now healed under the loving care of her Savior.
A visitation for Renee will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home.
