Mona Sue Robinson Tway, M.D. passed away on July 14th 2023 at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
She was born to Earl Cooper and Sivilla Frances Robinson October 4th, 1940. After graduation from high school she was involved with her church and family while continuing her education. She met Ray Allen Corbitt and they were married and had four children, Mona Lezlie, Karen Sue, Ray Allen Jr. and Lisa Beth. They were together for eleven years.
Mona Sue started her journey to becoming a doctor at the University of Oklahoma where she met John Weir Tway, PhD. She and John were then married on August 23rd 1973 and she continued on to OU’s College of Medicine. After graduation, they moved to Evanston, Illinois, where she completed her residency at St. Francis in Radiology.
She practiced medicine in Texas for 25 years. She enjoyed playing piano, traveling, learning languages, people, fine arts and nature.
She was also involved in her local church in Hollis Oklahoma and played piano, organ, sang in the choir and served as president of the choir. She taught Sunday school and Head Start, which was a community funded program for young children.
She is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. Surviving her are five siblings, Carm Eastham, Linda Driskill, Norma Williams, Glenda Helfrich and Brenda Robinson. Her four children, Lezlie Stewart, Karen Street, Ray Corbitt Jr. and Lisa Walker Tway. Her five grandchildren Jeff Street, Lindsay Jerome, Monica Aguilar, and Logan Street. Five great grandchildren Caiden Street, Collin Street, Jack Street, Asher Aguilar and Mason Aguilar.
A service of celebration of life will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6001 NW Grand Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK, 73118, date is not yet determined. We ask if anyone wishes to send gifts or flowers, please instead donate to Hollis Methodist Church, your local botanical gardens, or a fine arts or educational institution. All were very important to her and John.
