Clifford E. Nigh, better known as Cliff, was born on February 14, 1948 in Greenville, NC to E.L Nigh and Clarice Bruce nee Stancil. Cliff served as a radioman in the US Navy from 1966 until 1970. Following his military service, he joined Southwestern Bell as a switchman where he rose in ranks to Network Service Supervisor until his retirement in 2000. After retirement, he spent his days tinkering and projecting around the house as well as playing numerous rounds of golf with his wife, Cathy and various friends and family.
He also honored his acts of service and generous persona by assisting family and neighbors with any and all projects from as small as loaning out any of his extensive cache of tools to as big as building pergolas and roofing houses for those who couldn’t afford it.
Cliff was well known for his humorous antics, clever banter and colorful language. He loved going to the casino, exploring back roads in search of greasy spoons, napping with his granddog, sneaking his granddaughters cash, watching football with his son-in-law and teaching his girls unsolicited life skills.
Survived by wife of 52 years, Cathy Nigh, daughters, Katie Nigh and Kelly Longaker, son-in-law, Michael Longaker, granddaughters, Kendall and Jenna, sister, Sandra Lichliter and brother, Bob Nigh (& Glenda), sister-in-law, Sandy Nigh, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarice Bruce and Chuck Nigh, brother Larry Nigh and brother-in-law Jim Lichliter.
