Born September 9, 1945, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Kasperski) Rusk.
Veronica is a graduate from East Stroudsburg High School, class of 1963.
Prior to retirement, besides her beloved antique and collectible business and ,long ago, daytime jobs cleaning houses, Ronnie could be found serving up meals as a waitress at many local dining establishments. A lifelong waitress for over 50 years, a warm smile and friendly face has served many of you a nice meal or a fine beverage. Starting with the Elks Club (B.P.O.E. 319) where her mother was a cook when she was young, through the beloved Mollies on Main Street in Stroudsburg and on to many years with the Brown’s at Brownies in the Gap and Brownies in the Burg and many catering jobs in between. She also enjoyed volunteering at Daffodil Days at the Stroud Mall and assisting at local elections and voter polls.
After officially retiring she put all of her effort into her longtime hobby/passion of an antique and collectible business. The Cubbyhole, her sole business venture, has been run out of her home and several local co-ops over the years. It gave her much joy and satisfaction and let her help others through the years as well. She loved to get together with her girlfriends and play cards as well as many family game nights with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Veronica had been preceded in death by her brother, John Rusk.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Halsey Melvin, her children: Daniel Melvin and Christine Houck, her grandchildren Carolyn, Jason and Matthew Houck. Two sisters, 4 sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews, and her best friend Linda Eschenbach.
