He was born on August 12, 1938, in Chattanooga to the late Gladston and Marie Manning.
Bill was employed by MG Industries for 33 years and retired from the City of Chattanooga.
Bill was preceded in death by sister, Avis Jane; and brothers, Joe Manning and Tommy Manning. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Baker Manning; his daughters, Cheryl (John) White and Jennifer (Chris) Adams; grandchildren, Tyler White, Allyson White (Joe), Chase Adams and Chance Adams; siblings, Patricia Snyder, Rose (Malvin) Simmons and Paul Manning (Christine); many family members, several nieces and nephews, close friends and neighbors.
All who knew Bill loved him. He loved his family beyond measure. He loved the lord and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He also had special relationships with a few pastors of other denominations.
Bill loved life and no one fought harder to live it than he did. He was a lifelong resident of the Lookout Valley community and he loved his hometown and the people who live there. He was a well-known and liked figure in the valley with many beloved friends.
He was known as a beloved community softball coach of many teams, recreation center volunteer, band booster, and always highly involved in any activity his girls participated in.
Bill loved his girls and wife more than anything in the world. He was his girls’ protector, their rock, and their confidant. He will be missed immensely.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 25, at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East Chapel. Visitation will be from 11-1 PM on Friday, February 25, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West in Chattanooga.
