As a graduate of the University of TN at Chattanooga with a BS degree in Criminal Justice, Rodney became a member of the Chattanooga Police Department where he served as a Major Crimes Detective for several years. In 1977, Rodney continued his public service and began a 25 year career with the U.S. Department of Justice as a US Marshal.
Rodney’s family and all who knew him, knows that he is enjoying a joyful reunion with his precious daughter Valerie. The two have been separated for many years as a result of Valerie’s passing from a long fought battle with cancer at the age of 11.
He had no greater pride while here than that of the career of his daughter, Tracy Dockery. Ironically, Tracy would complete her 27 year career as an FBI agent a week after his passing.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie JoAnn Fisher, his parents, Hubert L Fisher and Frances Delaney Fisher and a brother Rick Fisher.
Rodney leaves behind to cherish his memory the love of his life, his beloved and loyal wife of 40 years Susan Silvers Fisher, his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy (Randy) Dockery, a sister Charlotte Templeton, a brother and sister in law, Doug (Chris) Fisher, two grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Rodney’s Life will be held graveside with military honors on Monday September 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 am until 12:30 pm at the East Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home.
The Fisher family would like to thank the amazing service of Hospice of Chattanooga for the comfort they provided in Rodney’s last days.
