Kathleen Suzanne Benson

She attended Notre Dame High School and spent the majority of her working life in food service, primarily working for Long John Silvers and Ankar’s Hoagies. She was an avid Atlanta Braves and Tennessee Vols fan. She was an animal lover and was a fan of various genres of music. Some of her favorite artists were Dwight Yoakam, the Beatles, and Van Halen.

She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, her mother-in-law, Ruby Benson and her father-in- law, Raymond Benson, several aunts and uncles, her fur babies, Chili-Pepper and Foxy.

Left behind to cherish Kathy’s memory are her husband of 44 years, Waymon Benson, her son, Patrick (Ginny) Benson, her siblings, Patti Walline, Susie (Kevin) Wheeler, Francis J. (Julie) Smith, Jr., Thomas (Marcia) Smith, Brian Smith, her aunts, Frances Shackleford and Presita Condrott, her cat, Phatness, her grand-dog, Sunny, and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends.

A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Saturday August 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm with Father Mike Nolan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Kathy’s memory can be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School.
