Joyce Molloy Delaney

Joyce Molloy Delaney, 88, died Friday, April 5, 2019 at a local hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born on February 18, 1931 to Anastasia Marie and James F. Molloy Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in Louisville, KY, Joyce graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949 in Louisville, KY. After graduating, she earned a degree as a Dietician from Nazareth College in Louisville, KY in 1954, with internships at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, as well as Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.

She then moved to Chattanooga to start a new chapter in her life, which included raising six children. She was a member of OLPH Catholic Church where she was active in the church community teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school classes, was a member of the Ave Maria Circle and Helping Hands, she ran the church nursery for many years, and sang in the church choir. Joyce also worked at Pro Ra Bona nursery for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Jane Terese, and husband of 61 years Frank T. Delaney Jr.

She is survived by her brother, James F. Molloy III, of Louisville, KY., her six children, Louanne Delaney of Charlotte, NC, Mary Joyce Delaney of Chattanooga, TN, Jane Delaney (Brett) Peloquin of Huntersville, NC, Frank (Beth) Delaney III, Michael Delaney and Maureen Delaney (Robert Jr.) Kidwell of Chattanooga, TN and her six grandchildren Elizabeth Kidwell, Robert Kidwell III, Madison Delaney, Meagan Delaney, Ashlynne Delaney and Christian Kidwell.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday April 10, 2019 at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be at 10:30am on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at OLPH Catholic Church with Rev. James Vick officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
