James Robert “JR” Hicks, 60, of East Ridge passed away on Friday October 28, 2022. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 26, 1962. JR graduated from Tip City High School in Tip City, OH. He was a member of St. Thaddaeus Episcopal Church in Chattanooga.
JR was a special person with many talents. He was an artist, a writer, and a collector.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Hicks.
JR is survived by his wife of 38 years, Courtney H. Hicks; his sons, Jonathan (Kathryn) Humber and Daniel (Kelly) Humber; his grandchildren, Lucas; Ryan; and William Humber, mother, Jean Shearer; sisters, Sandy; Sidoni; and Michelle, brothers, David and Lloyd; several nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Joy Bond and Elaine Harrison, who loved him dearly and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday November 2, 2022.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in JR’s memory may be made to either the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Diabetes Association.
