Dolly Charlotte Burns, 72 of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Burns was a graduate of Central High School and the Baroness Erlanger School of nursing. She worked at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital and retired from Erlanger Hospital. She was a member of the former East Ridge Baptist Church over 50 years, and a current member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Ooltewah. She was a member of the Chattanooga Doll Club and the Chattanooga Rose Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward Wofford and Dolly Louise Wofford and her brother, Charles Gordon Wofford.
Survivors include her husband, Robert R. Burns; son Jeff Burns, grandson John Ross Burns of Harrison, TN; daughter Pam Abernathy (Billy) of Lookout Mountain, GA; sister-in-law, Pam Wofford of Navarre, FL; nephew, Eddie Wofford (Dyan), grand-niece Willow Wofford of Ramstein, Germany; niece, Brenda Wofford of Murfreesboro, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Steele officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
