Nellie Jane Robinson

Nellie Jane Robinson, 89, of Groveland, formerly of Mackinaw, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin. She was born on September 16, 1933 in Mackinaw, a daughter of Audrey Clayton and Lila Faye (Friend) Mathews. Nellie married Robert O. Robinson on December 23, 1951. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2003 in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rev. Robert O. Robinson, Jr.; and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Lori J. (Keith) Plack of Laura; three grandchildren, Courtney Thorne of Creve Coeur, Ben (Amber) Robinson of Burlington, Iowa, and Jessica Robinson of Rochester; one great-grandson, Clayton Wilson of Creve Coeur; brother, Audrey G. Mathews of Rushville, Indiana.

She last worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Central Manufacturing in Groveland for 26 years, retiring in 2005.

Nellie was a former member of the former Faith United Methodist Church in East Peoria, volunteering as a bookkeeper, luncheons, women's club, and church sales. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in East Peoria and volunteered with their women's club. She loved gardening and especially spending time with her family.

Nellie's funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. Krista Price will officiate. Her visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am also on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.
