He was born Nov. 1, 1942 in McLeansboro, IL to Ray and Ruby (Nelson) Mayberry. He married Marjorie “Marj” Kerr on Sep. 28, 1968 in Morton. She survives along with one son, Michael (Tylin) Mayberry of Lake Dallas, TX, one daughter, Michel "Shelley" Mayberry-Pawlak of Bloomington, five grandchildren: Alex, Brenton (Brittany), Chelsea, Gary and Donica (David). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Hannah, Savannah, Haylee, Emma, Mason, one sister, Carolyn (Larry) Stafford of Peoria, and one brother, Ray Eugene “Gene” Mayberry of Enfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Marvin was a United States Navy and Marine veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He then graduated from Bradley University and was a Project Manager for Caterpillar, Inc. for almost 40 years. Marvin also taught high level math at ICC in the evenings.
He was a member of the Hilton Masonic Lodge 1143 in East Peoria since 1970. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. Blake Gerber will be officiating the services. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
