He was born Aug. 10, 1929 in East Peoria to Harold and Ann (Hybiski) Rogers. He married Jeanie Guile Aug. 29, 1952 in Morton. She survives along with one son, Gary (Connie) Rogers of Atlanta, GA, two daughters: Susan (Chuck) Bennett of Indianapolis, IN, Linda (Steve) Flatt of Fishers, IN, four grandchildren: Kerrie, Scott, Brent, Christian, four great-grandchildren: Andrew, Jackson, Adelynn, Gabriella, and one brother, Jack Rogers of Morton.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, June Steighorst, and two brothers, Jim and Bud Rogers.
Gene worked for CILCO for 35 years retiring in 1992. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and mushroom hunting.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be Sunday Nov. 16, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
