He was born March 4, 1927 in Bunker, MO to Emery and Daisy (Randolph) Martin. He married Sue Carol Brite on October 21, 1950 in Michigan City, IN. She passed away July 16, 2022 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Angel Alexandra Schultz, one great-granddaughter, Avery Love Grazier, four brothers: Wallace, Wilbur, Angus, William, and three sisters: Faye, Mae, and Gloria.
Survivors include three children: Gregory (Sara) Martin of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Karen Martin of Desert Hot Springs, CA, Connie (Daniel) Schultz of East Peoria, eight grandchildren: Sunshine (Jason) Elder, Brittney (William) Elwell, Hannah Schultz, April Wolcott, Jennifer Martin, Emily Martin, Nicholas Martin, Samantha Martin, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Dail was a WWII Navy veteran serving from August 30, 1944 until his discharge on July 3, 1946. Following his time in the military, Dail was a Steelworker, working in East Chicago, IN, and in Hennepin, IL.
He was a member of the Peoria Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.
Of all Dail’s life experiences, his greatest love was spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Graveside services with Military Rites will be Friday, October 25, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Avery Grazier Memorial Fund set up through CEFCU.
