Wayne D. Berger of Williamston, passed away on October 25, 2018 at the age of 78. Wayne was born May 1, 1940, in Detroit, MI to David and Lucille (Hay) Berger. He grew up in Ecorse, MI and graduated from Michigan State University. He was on the rowing team at MSU that placed second in the Olympic tryouts by a photo finish. Wayne was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church; worked for Melling Drop Forge and then retired from Oldsmobile in 2001. He was an avid hunter and fisherman (loved the out of doors); he enjoyed going for car rides, eating doughnuts and having coffee with his friends. His family was most important and loved them very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Tricia and Denise and his first wife, Christine. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Imelda; sons, Paul (Lisa) and Matthew (Melanie) Berger; grandchildren, David and Gabrielle Berger and sister, Carol Carrico.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., October 30, 2018, St. Martha Catholic Church, 1100 W. Grand River Avenue, Okemos, MI with Rev. Mike Murray officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 5-8 p.m. and Monday, 5-8 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m., Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
