Vivienne graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1956 with a degree in home economics. She worked as home advisor for the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service in Pekin, IL. In 1957, Vivienne married her college sweetheart, John Kreer.
After spending a few years in Morgantown, WV, John and Vivienne settled in East Lansing, MI in 1964. Vivienne volunteered in the library of Pinecrest School and the East Lansing Public Library for more than 25 years. She was an active member of Peoples Church, where she served in the Women’s Society. Vivienne was a patron of the Wharton Center and enjoyed many performances there. She was an avid reader, world traveler, and committed Jeopardy watcher..In 2017 she moved to Wheaton, IL to be closer to her family.
Vivienne was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Edith Huffman, as well as her husband of 54 years, John. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Andrew) Bratzel of Wheaton, IL; son Kenneth Kreer of Auburn, WA; and grandchildren Amy (Matthew) De Re, Allison (Steven Zhang) Bratzel and Claire Bratzel, all of Chicago, IL.
Services will be held Friday, October 7, 11 a.m. at Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 6, 5-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, East Lansing.
Contributions in memory of Vivienne may be made to Peoples Church or the John B. Kreer Family Endowed Scholarship fund at Michigan State.
