Haslett, Michigan — Renee Perry, 58, passed from life on earth, to her new home in heaven, on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at her home in Haslett, Michigan after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Renee was preceded in death by her parents, Richard “Lee” and Arlene Scramlin, and brother-in- law John Talaska.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Glenn Perry and sister Judi Jones. Also surviving are the families of Arnie and Eunice Perry, Joanne Talaska, Dave and Shar Perry, Kevin and Elaine St Vincent, Mark and Judi Jones.
Renee was born on December 18, 1963 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
She graduated from Shepherd High School in 1981. She received a BA Degree in Elementary Education at Alma College as well as a Master’s Degree in Counseling at Central Michigan University.
Renee taught for thirty years before retiring, teaching in Lewiston, Millington, and Flint Township.
Renee will be remembered by her willingness to do for others before herself. She created quite a legacy with her “children” in her classroom over the years, going above and beyond with things like fixing hair for those who had no one at home to help, paying for field trips and lunches so kids wouldn’t miss out, giving them books, adopting children and families at Christmas time, making dresses, and just loving them unconditionally. Many became life long friends.
Renee will also be remembered for her love of life, her cheerfulness and her kindness. Favorite memories include family gatherings on the 4th of July in Wakefield, looking for agates at Lake Superior, tent camping at Lake Gogebic and Bewabic Park, fishing trips, working in the garden, planting flowers, attending family weddings and anniversaries, reading her Bible, spontaneous trips around Michigan, spending time at the farm, and visiting with good friends.
Renee was a best friend to many people. Everyone enjoyed her infectious laugh. She lived a life pleasing to God, with the goal of eventually being in heaven. On April 23rd she accomplished her goal. She will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. We will see her again when God calls us home as well.
