He was born on September 17, 1931 in Mishawaka, Indiana and went to Heaven on May 27, 2024, but only after spending his final days visiting with his 6 grandchildren and son and daughter-in-law at his side.
In Heaven, Marvin reunited with his son Mark, mother Laura, father Charles and sister Suzy.
His legacy will live on through his son Steve (Dayna), his brother Richard, his grandchildren Kyle, Lauren, Becca, Mitchell, Tommy and Samantha - also through his much-loved niece Jody, friend and cousin Conrad, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
If asked, Marvelous Marv would say his greatest accomplishment in life was being a good father to Mark and Steve. He also worked at Fisher Body for 37 years to provide for his boys, and in his younger years he served in the military and helped build the Mackinac Bridge. He loved history and studied it for three years at Michigan State University though anyone that ever met him would know that he was qualified to teach it, and he did! He retired at 62 and acquired 53 acres on Buck Lake in the UP where he built a log home with the help of his sons Mark and Steve. This place would become a special refuge for the Brunners with annual Summer visits with the grandchildren.
Throughout his life Marvin became a fixture in the East Lansing community. After raising his boys on Grove Street, he moved to a house on Oakhill Avenue built on the highest elevation in the city of East Lansing, a dwelling fit for the “King of EL”. Throughout the years he could be seen riding his bike and jogging in East Lansing and he conveyed that love for fitness down to his sons and grandchildren, he led by example. In his most recent days, he would take a daily walk at Frandor Shopping Center and visit Dagwood’s Tavern every night making numerous friends all along the way. People liked him very, very much… yes indeed.
Please join Marv’s family to celebrate his life on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Chapel, 1730 E Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823.
