Knarik Osipova

Knarik Samsonovna Osipova, lovingly known as Knara to her family and friends, left this world on December 20, 2024, at the age of 100. Born on February 15, 1924, in the Republic of Artsakh to Samson and Anushka, Knara lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and creativity.

Biography

Knara was a proud ethnic Armenian, deeply rooted in the traditions and culture of her people. Her heritage was a source of great pride and shaped much of her life and values. Growing up in Artsakh, a region historically contested and marked by hardship for Armenians, Knara exemplified the resilience and strength that defined her heritage.

She cherished Armenian customs, often preparing traditional dishes and sharing stories of her homeland with younger generations. These traditions became a bridge connecting her family to their roots, ensuring that the legacy of her Armenian heritage would endure.

Knara’s journey took her from Artsakh, her birthplace, to Baku, where she spent a significant part of her life, then to Yerevan for nearly a decade, and eventually to Michigan, to be reunited with her closest nephew and niece, Valeriy and Nelli.

Knara lived through momentous periods of modern history, demonstrating strength and warmth in all she did. She never married or had children of her own, but she was well-attended and cared for through her deep connections with her nieces, nephews, and their extended families.

Though she devoted herself to pursuing an education in nursing, Knara ultimately found her true calling in teaching the art of sewing. Sharing her mastery of intricate needlework, knitting, and embroidery, she brought beauty and inspiration to many. Her creations remain cherished heirlooms for generations to come.

Family

Knara is survived by her six nieces and nephews, 24 great-nieces and nephews, and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews. As the youngest of five siblings, she was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Ervand, Enok, Anya, and Iskuhi. Her extended family will forever cherish her memory and the love she gave so generously.

Memorial Service

A visitation for Knarik will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 10:30 to 11:30 am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am.
