I was very much saddened to hear of Jeff’s passing.  It always brightened my day seeing him (and you) on my schedule.  It was a privilege taking care of you two all those years.  I quite often would ask him about his experiences in law enforcement and he would share them, which always added color to my day.  I didn’t realize that he and I were only born 12 days apart in the same year.  

My heartfelt condolences to you, Brian, and Lauren.  I miss seeing your family.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I remember Jeff as very happy go lucky and kind.  I so enjoyed his sense of humor.

You were one of the best!  You loved family, your job , your co-workers and the community …. and the Spartans!  I remember well how many times you took extra shifts for the football games in the cold when the other guys wouldn’t when I was scheduling the security!!!    Thank you for showing Ingham County what being a true law enforcement officer should be!  Rest easy, you will be missed!

Dear Uncle Jeff,
Wish I could be there for your celebration of life. Your kind, warm hearted soul will be FOREVER missed. I will miss the bonfire nights we shared with the family and passing around the fire ball lol! And the fun camping trips at eight point lake when I was younger. You always had your jokes and will miss your sweet laugh. See you one day in the bright lights of heaven! As a previous member of Dr. Gary Hubbard’s staff, I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the Joy family. Jeff was such a kind, sweet gentle man. 

Jeff was one of our very favorite people we worked with at ICSO.  A great Officer, gentleman, leader and person.  Jeff was a very caring individual who truly cared about others.  Jeff often spoke about his family and how proud he was of his children.  
Jeff loved his Spartans and loved talking MSU sports.
Jeff left his mark on this world and no doubt will be missed by many.

My memories of jeff are non stop. i perhaps couldn’t write them all down but i do know this that he is one of a kind just like the rest of my brothers and talk about having fun while growing up it was a blast with him then as we got older it got even better. we did everything from going to football games to helping out other people. jeff and i had a great relationship as we did a lot together as far as going to plow  snow to cutting grass. and then there’s the casino in which we had a ball every time we went and had great conversations about past and present. i’m going to miss him so much and he’s presents. i’m going to miss his phone calls almost every day and meeting him for breakfast etc. such a lost but i know the good lord has other plans  RIP Brother i love you!!!

So sadden to hear this news, he was way to young. Jeff was a great guy and I enjoyed working with him. My condolences to his wife and family. 

I was so shocked and saddened when I heard about the loss of Jeff.  Jeff and I worked together at the Ingham County Sheriffs Office.  Jeff was a great law enforcement professional and a wonderful person.  When you visited with Jeff he always  had a pleasant smile on his face and you knew he enjoyed your company.  I will truly miss seeing Jeff at our Retired Ingham Deputies get togethers.  My deepest condolences to Jeff’s family.  May God Bless Jeff and his family .  Retired Lieutenant Duane LeRoy, ICSO.

Jeff was a wonderful man.  I admired him.  We spent many years together at the MSU tunnel.   In addition,  our paths crossed in our law-enforcement careers.  I am so sorry for your loss.  

our condolences to the Joy family we go back a ways with the family our father Clarence Smith knew and worked with Harold. Jim worked with John and for a time Jeff and his family lived next door to Jim. again our condolences to the family.

Every time I would walked through the front door at the Joy house, LT would welcome me (and I’m sure anyone) with the biggest hug and brightest smile. He would start laughing at his own jokes before he finished it and it was always so easy to talk to him. He was the definition of a family man and it shows because the Joys are a strong family unit. I will always look up to Jeff as a second Dad. Thank you, Jeff, for being so incredible kind and welcoming. I will miss you dearly. Ginny, Lauren, Brian and Lindsay I love you all and you have my heartfelt condolences.

Dear Family and Friends of Jeff, 
Sending my deepest condolences to you. I just read Jeff’s obituary in the Sunday paper.  I have to say I was shocked as I can imagine you all are recovering from as well. When I lived in Wood Valley decades ago Jeff cut my lawn. I knew he worked as a police officer and actually just thought about him today as I drove through Haslett and notice some officers. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. His passing is a loss to many. Know that many people care and are sending you much comfort as you grieve the loss of Jeff. 

Jeff  was an amazing father, husband, friend,  he added so much to our small Haslett community.  My kids went to school with Brian and Lindsay,  many hours spent watching T-ball to Varsity Football, so many schools functions .   There are no words to express how sorry I am for your loss.
