Avid fly fisherman, lover of the natural world, collector of many things, creator and inventor and artist, Dave loved his daughter, Ashleigh most of all, followed by his wife, Pat, his cats Misty and Vinny, and his adoptive parents, Dinny and Bill, who predeceased him.
Dave prided himself in learning his entire life. His expertise on primitive man, the dinosaur world, ancient Egyptian history, rocks and minerals, birds, fish, guns, knives, and other weaponry could have filled volumes. Dave always seemed to be the presence in the room, whether teaching middle schoolers (Kinawa), delivering advice to family and friends, or retelling his many entertaining stories. Wading the Pere Marquette River (Hurricane, AuSable, Manistee, Snake, Madison, Firehole, or Yellowstone) and boating on Lake Superior near Grand Marais were his heaven on earth.
