Walter Carl Schoenfeld, 83, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly with his cherished family by his side on December 16, 2012 at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Hyde) since 1958. Walter was born on October 30, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Walter and Hyla (Wirts) Schoenfeld. He was a graduate of Wagner College. Mr. Schoenfeld was employed by SNET retiring in 1987. He was a parishioner and past President of Faith Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir for over 50 years, he was active in the Manchester Silk City Chorus and Podunk Wanders and recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award. He enjoyed bowling and enjoyed spending his time with his family. Walter will be remembered for being simply “fantastic”. In addition to his wife Doris, Walter will be greatly missed by his children; son Fred, daughter Elaine and her husband Max, brother Harry, sisters Louise, Judy, Janet and Carol, and many nieces and nephews. Walter is predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters. A Memorial Service is to be held on Saturday, January 12th, 2013 at 11:00am at Faith Lutheran Church, 1120 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
