Sharon Ann “Shar” (Agnew) Riordan, 75, of East Hartford, loving wife of 53 years of William C. “Bill” Riordan, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford after a brief illness. Born in Hartford on March 28, 1944, a daughter of the late Francis “Frank” and Helen M. (Handy) Agnew, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Sharon was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1962 and was a former communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Church, East Harford. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford for many years in the Purchasing Department. Sharon enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Along with her beloved husband, Sharon is survived by a son, William C. “Billy” Riordan, Jr. of Bradenton, FL; three brothers, Gary Agnew and his wife, Joyce, of Columbia, James Agnew and his wife, Elaine, of Bolton, Hank Agnew of Storrs; four sisters, Susan Coburn and her husband, Timothy, of Glastonbury, Diane Turkis and her husband, Bruce, of Columbia, Christine “Chris” Agnew of East Harford, Theresa “Teka” Agnew of New Britain; a brother-in-law, Ray George of East Harford; three grandchildren, Mason, Aedan, and Kaleigh; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by a son, Michael Riordan of East Hartford and a sister, MaryBeth “Bea” George of East Hartford.
Funeral service will be Friday (March 6, 2020) at 11 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Section B), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday morning from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
